Sorry Alan. We were out of town... Sue is still in Milan, Italy and can be reached at soozer1946@gmail.com .  She'll be back in early December. My (our) trip was killer!! We started in Berlin, drove south through Germany, Austria and all through Italy to Sicily.

Ken passed away and I moved back to be with Mo   We get along so well and having fun. Its like being a kid again.  She turned 81 on August 8th. How old is your Mom and Gene. Are they still in Pella? How is Amy and Steve and Maddy and I forgot the name of your Grandson too. I hope all is good with you and Alan and what are you doing for work this way? I am at Valley West Mall at Younkers. I literally arrived applied and Saturday when I arrive back from Phoenix. I was lucky for sure to land a job that quickly, plus Mom's condo makes it only 5 minutes away.

Daniel is now the Catering Director for the Embassy Club, Des Moines Club, and the Masonic Temple. He is a single Dad with joint custody with Noah's Mom. He will be four on December the 4th of December. He is every bit Daniel and now he will know what it was like when raising him and I couldn't be happier. Tommy is now an attorney for the Phoenix Police department  and a  Lieutenant with the force. He will be 40 on November. Where has all the time gone???????????// and now we are 60!!!!!!

While I am trying to remember something about our birthdays?  I think the one that sticks out was how long it took you to get ready to go anywhere. I remember the ironing of your hair at your house and on another note would be me trying and I do believe was the piercing of your ears. You screamed so loud it scared the German Shepherd to death. I also enjoyed our Friskie's drive in and how much fun we had. My greatest remembrance will be your wedding with Alan, and Amy's too!  My catering powers after that were few and far between.

To my wonderful (who recently turned 50 years young himself) hubby ~ thanks for starting my day with this awesome surprise (and box of Kleenex :) ).  Every post was met with an "Oh my gosh!!" and a few other expletives, along with "Where did THAT photo come from??" And Dwight Miller....are you kidding me Chuck??  That post was totally THE biggest surprise so far - how in the heck?? You gotta love the internet!? Doesn't seem that long ago we were walking the halls of Southeast Polk. Still remember the time Dwight Miller and I drove down the alley behind your house. We thought we saw you sunbathing in the backyard, Dwight stopped his car and yelled, "Hey good lookin!" She looked up. I said to Dwight, "Man, that's her Mom!" Your Mother got a kick out of that.

The best way to describe an age is like the time I gave blood. One of the preliminary questions the nurse asked me was, "have you ever been in prison or juvenile detention". I answered "no, but my wife thinks I should have". The nurse replied, "in prison?". I said "no, juvenile detention".

is true.  Cause I found a friend in Iowa....That friend is "you" 

God puts us in places,  we can't figure out,

but once we look back, we understand with no doubts.

 

 

I had just moved to Iowa, the sun in the air.

Grandchildren on bikes......

and you were there.

 

I walked to the sidewalk with casual smile,

We talked and chatted for a little while.

Something happened so quickly, a bond we did

share.  A feeling I sensed, me here......

And you there.

 

It all started when my husband was transferred from Deere.

And just down the street, with coffee to share........

you were there.

Then my mother was diagnosed with cancer, my life's

biggest scare, and once again......

you were there.

Then a bizarre doctor gave me a diagnosis, one that gave

me real fear, and with real concern......

you were there.

 

These are just a few scares, when I needed a friend,

and someone to share......

Guess what, you were always there.

 

God put you in my path with your wisdom to share,

and I give thanks everyday.........

That you were there.

 

Now things are different and my location is here,

But our bond never changed.  I still know you care.

Our lives get busy doing everyday things, but you remain

in my heart, and the calmness it brings.

 

 

Today is your birthday, one more year in the past. 

But please know that our friendship is here to last.

I'll pick up the phone and call you from here,
